The Director of Advancement at Bishop Noll Institute reports directly to the President and serves as the
senior executive for the high school’s development efforts.
He/she is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of a comprehensive development program,
including fundraising, marketing and communications, alumni and constituent relations/cultivation, and
ensuring the resources are available to advance the school’s mission.

THE SCHOOL
Bishop Noll Institute is a co-educational, college prep high school in Hammond, Indiana, 3 miles from the
Chicago city limits. Preparing for its 105th school year, Bishop Noll is the largest of 20 schools operated by
the Roman Catholic Diocese of Gary, Indiana, and draws students from throughout Northwest Indiana and
Chicago’s southern neighborhoods and suburbs. Its 2024-25 enrollment is 682 – 78% of which is Catholic.
With a majority of students qualifying for free and reduced lunch, Bishop Noll is currently rated an “A”
school by the Indiana Dept. of Education and boasts the highest cumulative graduation rate (98.5%) of any
high school in Lake County, Ind., during an 8-year period from 2014 to 2021. Its most recent graduating
class (2024) received $27.04 million in college scholarship offers, averaging more than $223,000 per
graduate.
THE ROLE
The Director of Advancement at Bishop Noll Institute reports directly to the President and serves as the
senior executive for the high school’s development efforts.
He/she is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of a comprehensive development program,
including fundraising, marketing and communications, alumni and constituent relations/cultivation, and
ensuring the resources are available to advance the school’s mission.
The D of A works closely with the President, Principal, other school department heads and the
Advancement Committee of the Board of Limited Jurisdiction to promote awareness of the school; to
increase alumni engagement; to secure appropriate funding for annual operations, new and ongoing
programs, capital projects and endowment; all to ensure Bishop Noll Institute fulfills its mission and serves
the families of the Diocese of Gary and the overall Northwest Indiana and southern Chicago areas in
forming young men and women in Mind, Body and Soul.
This is a full-time, 12-month position. Evening and weekend hours will be required on occasion.

QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will have strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal and organizational
skills, as building relationships is at the heart of the role. Demonstrated teamwork, initiative, enthusiasm,
and the ability to maintain confidentiality are essential. Prospective candidates must have a minimum of a
bachelor’s degree and at least 3-5 years’ working experience in fundraising/development, sales, marketing,
communications or comparable professional roles.
The candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word (or Google document equivalents) and be
able to efficiently navigate the school’s donor database. The role will include analyzing data to design and
implement strategies for increasing annual giving, planned giving and other giving program results.
He or she must fully understand and believe in the mission, goals and philosophy of Bishop Noll Institute, in
addition to a comprehensive understanding of Catholic education and its benefits.
