  • Planned Giving: The 1921 Society

A planned gift gives you the opportunity to leave your legacy in the halls of BNI and in the hearts and minds of our students for generations to come. You can direct your gift to areas you feel strongly about such as financial assistance, building improvements, and teachers' continuing education, or you can give a gift that allows Bishop Noll to use it where it is needed most.

Regardless of your income level, there are several ways to make a significant gift to Bishop Noll:

Including Bishop Noll Institute as a beneficiary of your estate is a simple process. We have created the following language so that it can be included in your will.

“I give and bequeath _____ percent of my residuary estate, after all payments of all debts, claims, expenses and taxes, to Bishop Noll Institute 1519 Hoffman St. Hammond, IN 46321, a non-profit organization and high school, organized and existing under the laws of the State of Indiana, as an unrestricted gift for its general purposes.”

    OR

“I bequeath the sum of $______ to Bishop Noll Institute, 1519 Hoffman St. Hammond, IN 46321, a not-profit organization and high school, organized and existing under the laws of the State of Indiana, as an unrestricted gift for its general purposes.”

Your attorney or financial adviser can provide you with more information.

Other types of Planned Giving Gifts:

Bequests/Wills – This is the simplest of all planned gifts. It allows you to make a substantial contribution to further Bishop Noll's mission without drawing on your present resources. Bequests meet the needs of many donors because they provide the school with a specific amount, or percentage of the estate that remains after payments are made to all other heirs.

Gift of Real Estate or Residence – Provides an immediate income tax deduction and estate tax savings.

Beneficiary Designations – You may name Bishop Noll Institute a beneficiary of a Life Insurance Policy, Retirement Fund, IRA, 401(k), Savings Account, or CD.

Trusts and Annuities - Can be an advantage both to you and to Bishop Noll. You make a generous gift to benefit BNI now, while ensuring you receive a set income for the rest of your life.

Bishop Noll will work alongside you and your financial planners as you navigate the path of joining the 1921 Society and leaving a lasting impact at BNI!
  • Annual Fund

The Annual Fund is the largest yearly fundraising effort at Bishop Noll Institute. Gifts donated directly to the Annual Fund have the most immediate impact on our school. Annual Fund monies support the gap between current tuition costs and the actual cost of educating each student. The Annual Fund goes directly to Bishop Noll's operating budget, which allows us to support faculty salaries, provide tuition support to students in need and make critical improvements to our school building.

  • Scholarships

Bishop Noll Institute is a special community that thrives because of the common purpose of its constituents - students who want to learn, faculty who want to teach, alumni and donors who provide necessary funding and leadership, and parents who expect the very best education for their children. Everyone is a stakeholder in the future of our students.  The result is a dynamic environment for learning in which we work together to prepare young people to successfully meet the challenges of living, learning, and working in the world. It is Bishop Noll's ministry to promote and maintain a diverse student body composed of young women and men from a wide range of cultural, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. Scholarship dollars are an important facet of our fundraising efforts in fulfilling that ministry. Tuition at Bishop Noll Institute for the 2017-18 will cost $8,400 for a Diocese of Gary family. Please consider funding a scholarship to support the current students at BNI.

Again, please contact: Ryan Julian, Director of Advancement, at 219.932.9058, ext. 1002 or via email at rjulian@bishopnoll.org with any questions on making a gift to BNI.
  • Stock Transfers

Giving appreciated stock to Bishop Noll Institute is a wonderful way to help us continue our mission and for the owner to receive tax benefits on such gifts. It allows Bishop Noll Institute to receive a larger gift than if it was sold by the owner and the proceeds donated to the school. In turn, the owner receives a greater tax deduction by giving the stock directly to Bishop Noll Institute.

Many people who own stock today have it held for them by their brokerage firm. To sell the stocks/securities held by your brokerage firm, you can request an electronic transfer to complete the transaction.

Another means of maintaining holdings of stock is to take delivery of the stock (receive the stock certificate) when purchasing. To sell or transfer stock when a physical certificate is held by the owner, a manual transfer must occur. The owner needs to take or mail the stock certificates to the new owner, a bank or brokerage company (for them to transfer), or to the company’s transfer agent.
  • Gifts in Kind

You can support BNI though the donation of a physical gift. Gifts in Kind provide extra support for either the academic or athletic success of current BNI students.
